Local buses are available from a bus stop a few minutes’ walk from the court and offer services to Brighton or Eastbourne. There is a convenient community bus and reliable taxi firm which residents can book, and Newhaven has its own train station about 20 minutes’ walk away.
The court has a range of on-site facilities including a communal laundry, pleasant guest room, buggy room, lift and private parking.
The court’s sloping gardens are well-maintained and attract a range of local wildlife including a fox called Bambi who is a regular visitor. Green-fingered residents are encouraged to get involved with tending the gardens if they choose.

The large communal lounge is the venue for the many social activities on offer to residents of Ellis Gordon Court; these include regular coffee mornings, bingo, carpet bowls, quiz nights and dinner evenings. In addition, the court has strong links with the community and often involves local groups in events. The mature gardens, with their outstanding views of the local countryside, provide an excellent place to relax and socialise in fine weather and green-fingered residents are welcome to help with the gardening.
Newhaven, just a 10 minute walk away, is a bustling fishing port and has its own ferry travelling regularly to Dieppe in Normandy. The town has a supermarket, doctors surgeries and several cafés and hairdressers. It also has beauty salons, charity shops, etc.
