John Gaskell Court, on the outskirts of the Cumbrian seaside town of Whitehaven, is a retirement housing court with a friendly family atmosphere.
Whitehaven is an attractive and historic Georgian town in West Cumbria, only a few miles from the fringes of the Lake District National Park. There is plenty to do in the town, including a number of country markets throughout the year.
The centre of Whitehaven is a five-minute bus ride from John Gaskell Court and the scheme is situated on the local bus route offering regular services to Carlisle, Penrith or Keswick in the Lake District. Whitehaven also has a train station, providing good transport links to towns and cities further afield.
The scheme offers housing for those who wish to remain independent, but also boasts a communal lounge, laundry room and guest room. The attractive and well-maintained lawns in the gardens at the side of the court offer a private space for residents to sit and relax on sunny days, with many choosing to tend the flower beds.
