The scheme comprises 14 bungalows and 71 apartments, with communal facilities including a restaurant, activities room, hair salon and residents’ lounge. Each property is spacious and well-appointed, with level access shower rooms, modern kitchens and emergency alarms for peace of mind.
Its name was chosen in honour of sailor Jack Crawford, known as the ‘Hero of Camperdown’. Trained as a keelsman as a young boy, he went on to serve in the Royal Navy on HMS Venerable. During the battle of Camperdown in October 1797, part of the Venerable's mast was felled, including the Admiral's flag. Lowering the Admiral's personal flag was a sign of surrender, and even an unintentional fall was unacceptable. Despite being under intense gunfire, Crawford climbed the mast and nailed the colours to the top.
