Case Study - Filey Fields

Filey Fields was identified as part of North Yorkshire County Council’s “Care & support where I live” strategy to expand the Extra Care programme in the local area.

The scheme was developed in partnership with two councils, North Yorkshire County Council and Scarborough Borough Council to deliver welcoming, modern, high-quality accommodation to enable residents to live as independently as possible. Six of the apartments were designed as fully open-plan, offering a flexible living option for people with complex needs.

Filey Field’s vibrant café/ bistro, hair salon and range of social activities have been well-received by all, creating a new sense of community to combat social isolation to those living both at the scheme and in the local area.

“The development of Extra Care in the county is a strategic priority for the council…this scheme is a real asset for Filey and the surrounding area”

County Councillor Michael Harrison, Executive Member for Adult Services and Health Integration at North Yorkshire County Council
