Dr Deborah Morgan is a senior researcher at Swansea University. She is a social gerontologist with a background in health and social care research, disability, and chronic illness across the life course.
Deborah is a leading expert on loneliness and social isolation in later life. Her work has informed the Welsh Government's loneliness and social isolation strategy and the Ageing Well in Wales Pocket guide to dealing with Loneliness, with over 20,000 copies distributed. Deborah sits on several advisory groups and is a founding member of the Cross-Party Inter-Generational Solidarity Group.
In addition to her work on loneliness, Deborah has a diverse portfolio that includes research on low-carbon retrofitting, intergenerational perspectives on climate change, social care, and social and digital exclusion. Deborah has experience in co-designing technological solutions with older people, for older people. Her Adjust Tech Project has co-produced with older adults with limited digital experience a prototype launcher app and a series of bilingual digital support booklets to support digital literacy.
In addition to her research, Deborah is also research manager for the Enabling Research in Care Homes (Enrich Cymru), funded by the Welsh Government.
