Emily Abbott is a leading UK voice on intergenerational practice, having designed over 1,500 projects that have reached more than 78,000 people. Her work sits at the intersection of policy, research, and creative practice, with a focus on tackling loneliness and social disconnection across people, places and systems.
As Co-Founder and CEO of Intergenerational England, she leads national efforts to embed intergenerational practice across housing, health, workforce, education and civic life. She has spearheaded the Intergenerational Housing Taskforce and the Intergenerational Workforce Development Taskforce, convening government, industry, and civil society partners around shared policy priorities.
As Secretariat to the APPG on Tackling Loneliness and Connected Communities, she runs parliamentary roundtables and national inquiries that translate cross-party engagement into concrete policy recommendations.
At Intergenerational Music Making, Emily has designed and managed the organisation's flagship programmes, including Together with Music and Talking Generations, and led its intergenerational engagement in national campaigns including the Big Help Out, the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, and National Thank You Day.
She holds a Chancellor's Visiting Fellowship at Manchester Metropolitan University and an MA in Music and International Development from SOAS, University of London.
