Extra Care offers our residents independent living with access to on-site care if and when they need it.

If you’re a people person and you have a caring nature, a career in Extra Care could be for you.

You’ll be supporting older people to live well independently in their own homes while providing high-quality, tailored care.

There are plenty of opportunities for career progression. Couple that with a great benefits package and you’ll feel rewarded for what you do in more ways than one!

Learning and development in Extra Care

Looking for a career, not just a job? Whether you're a Care Worker or a manager, we provide opportunities to learn and progress at all levels, including:

Every Care Worker receives full Skills for Care accredited in-house training in all aspects of care delivery and current legislation.

Our industry-first programme gears up our Care Workers with the skills and qualifications they need to develop and pursue a successful career in management (that could lead to future roles with salaries of £50,000) over a two-year period. On successful completion of the Extra Care Academy, you’ll receive a Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship including Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care - how good is that?!

This programme gives operational employees the opportunity to develop the skills and experience they need to apply for a regional management position. The academy blends internal and external training with on-the-job learning and includes a formal housing qualification.

We’re delighted to offer Level 5 University Certificate of Professional Development in Management, and Level 7 University Certificate of Professional Development in Leadership, delivered by De Montfort University, as well The Institute of Leadership and Management accredited in-house courses.

We also offer a range of learning opportunities via Henley Business School, part of the University of Reading.

We’re proud to offer apprenticeships, and many employees have taken advantage of this opportunity to develop their knowledge and further their career.

We cover the cost of professional membership fees to support continuous professional development (CPD) for many roles.

"The most enjoyable aspect was getting to understand the management roles in further detail and explore what that looked like and what I could expect in the future. "

"Housing 21 is so supportive. I’ve just started my fourth apprenticeship and I’ve had all the support that I could possibly need to complete it and the encouragement to do it as well. "
