Retirement Living offers our residents the opportunity to live independently within their own property but with the added benefit of an on-site Local Housing Manager during the week.

If you’re a people person and thrive on making a difference to people’s lives, a career in Retirement Living could be for you.

You’ll be supporting older people to live well independently in their own homes.

There are plenty of opportunities for career progression and development. Couple that with a great benefits package and you’ll feel rewarded for what you do in more ways than one!

A key element of our Retirement Living service is our on-site Local Housing Managers who ensure schemes run smoothly day to day.

If you love to foster communities and enjoy organising social events and activities for residents, this could be a great role for you.

Learning and development in Retirement Living

Looking for a career, not just a job? Whether you're a cleaner or a manager, we provide opportunities to learn and progress at all levels, including:

Operational managers complete a structured pathway of learning over 24 months to boost their knowledge and confidence.

We offer operational employees the opportunity to develop the skills and experience they need to apply for a regional management position. The academy blends internal and external training with on-the-job learning and includes a formal housing qualification.

We’re delighted to offer Level 5 University Certificate of Professional Development in Management, and Level 7 University Certificate of Professional Development in Leadership, delivered by De Montfort University, as well The Institute of Leadership and Management accredited in-house courses.

We also offer a range of learning opportunities via Henley Business School, part of the University of Reading.

We’re proud to offer apprenticeships, and many employees have taken advantage of this opportunity to develop their knowledge and further their career.

We cover the cost of professional membership fees to support continuous professional development (CPD) for many roles.

"The Housing Academy has exceeded my expectations. The support from my mentor and my learning from the academy has given me the confidence to deliver resident meetings."

"The great thing about Housing 21 is that it doesn’t place restrictions on how far you can go. I started my career as a cleaner at the scheme and now I’m an Assistant Housing Manager! "
