Two members of Housing 21's Marketing and Communications Team opted to swap screens for greens by volunteering to undertake some gardening at an Extra Care scheme.

Communications Executive, Joel, and Brand Manager, Jemma, teamed up to clear overgrown planters and borders at Broadway Gardens in Wolverhampton. They were joined on the day by two local community volunteers, Fiona and Mark, as well as Housing 21's Resident Experience Coordinator, Kerry, to tidy the outdoor space.

From cutting back trees, ripping up weeds and staining benches, the group spent a full day tidying the space for residents, who were thrilled with the end result.

Jemma said: "Joel and I both work remotely so it was great to get together and work with other people to transform the gardens and do something completely different from the day jobs, whilst still supporting Housing 21's residents.

"Joel and I typically work 'behind the scenes' to help Make A Difference Everyday to Housing 21 and its residents so it was great to be able to get out and meet with the residents in person. We had so many people coming out to thank us and have already been invited back for another volunteer day in the future which must mean we did a good job!"
