A £480,000 bathroom investment project to provide older people with modern and accessible facilities has come to completion with residents describing the upgrades as “superb”.
Edward Arnold Court in Kempston underwent a 16-week refurbishment programme to replace the bathroom facilities in all 62 apartments, guest room and two WCs.
The work, which was commissioned by Housing 21 and undertaken by contractors CLC, included replacing all sanitary ware and tiling to provide residents with access to safe and modern facilities.
Rupert Lecomber, Director of Strategic Asset Management at Housing 21, said: “Edward Arnold Court is a Retirement Living scheme for people over the age of 55 which is designed to support people to live independently in their own homes. The bathroom is a room used by everyone on a daily basis, so we are committed to ensuring all our schemes have modern facilities that strike the balance between looking contemporary and remaining accessible to people as they get older.
“We are delighted with the programme of works undertaken by CLC, who we have partnered with on previous projects. The feedback we have had from residents has been overwhelmingly positive, with some describing the completed works as “superb”, “immaculate” and “beautiful”.
To minimise disruption to residents, Housing 21 commissioned all bathrooms to be upgraded as part of a single project, with CLC taking an average of 10 days per apartment. In total, all work was completed within four months.
Matt Hilton, Operations Director North at CLC, said: “CLC is proud to continue supporting Housing 21 delivering high-quality investment works across their retirement living schemes. We have worked in partnership with Housing 21 delivering successful programmes for over 20 years. The recent bathroom refurbishment at Edward Arnold Court is a testament to our shared commitment to raising standards and delivering thoughtful improvement that enhance residents everyday living experience.”
