A burst of community spirit has helped Extra Care residents in Sunderland raise over £1000 for a local cause making a real difference.
Everyone came together at Gildacre Fields, a scheme owned and operated by Housing 21, for a fundraising day to raise money for Bryson’s Animal Shelter.
The day was packed with generosity and fun, with residents donating prizes for the raffle, baking cakes for the sale, and joining in a lively game of bingo. The event was well attended, and everyone enjoyed coming together while raising an impressive £1,083 for a great cause.
Lisa Chaytor, Assistant Housing Manager at the scheme, said: “The event was a great success, and it was fabulous to see everyone come together to support a great charity.
“It was a great team effort from colleagues and residents.”
Two residents at the scheme, who volunteer at the shelter, led the charge by organising the fundraiser as a way to continue showing the scheme’s support. Their enthusiasm set the tone for a brilliant day that brought the whole community together.
Gildacre Fields is an Extra Care scheme in the High Southwick area of Sunderland, offering independent living in contemporary, purpose-built apartments, with access to a range of communal facilities and care and support services based on-site.
