Housing provider reaffirms its position as a leading employer after achieving an impressive 82 percent for overall employee satisfaction in the 2025 Employee Survey.

The survey was carried out in partnership with Investors in People (IIP) to gather feedback from employees across Housing 21. The results provided insights into the experiences, priorities and ideas for improvement suggested by employees.

Key highlights include:

  • 90 per cent of employees said that they share the organisation’s values
  • 82 per cent of employees feel that the organisation is a supportive and safe place to work
  • 81 per cent of employees said that the organisation is a great place to work

The survey received responses from 76 per cent of its 4000 employees, providing valuable insights into areas such as workplace culture, communication, wellbeing, leadership and career development.

Ian Hodson, Director of People and Culture at Housing 21, said: “We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to share their views in this year’s survey. Even with a slightly longer format and updated questions to align with IIP standards, we still saw a fantastic 76 per cent participation rate. That level of engagement really shows how much our people care about shaping Housing 21’s future together.

“The feedback gives us valuable insight into what’s working well and where we can do more to help everyone thrive. Overall Satisfaction is at 82 per cent, and we’ve seen an increase in positive responses   - an encouraging sign that we’re continuing to make progress in the right areas.

“Colleagues also told us that reward and recognition is something we can strengthen. We’re taking that on board and will be running focus groups and working with our engagement groups to explore what meaningful changes could look like.

“We’ll keep building on this momentum- working with our partners, learning from others through IIP, and continuing to find new ways to make Housing 21 an even better place to work.”

Housing 21’s collaborative approach to working with IIP, where the organisation is assessed throughout the year instead of the usual three-year accreditation, supports ongoing efforts to strengthen employee engagement and build a culture where people feel valued and supported. In July this year, the leading provider of Extra Care and Retirement Living for older people, not only retained IIP Platinum but was also awarded IIP Wellbeing Gold through a range of inclusive initiatives, such as inclusive employee forums, which meant the survey also included a series of wellbeing questions.

The survey findings will inform future action plans, with teams across the organisation working together to address feedback and strengthen the employee experience at Housing 21.
