Residents at Legh Court welcomed a special guest as Jo Platt, MP for Leigh and Atherton, stopped by for a chat over coffee and biscuits.

During her visit to the Retirement Living scheme, Ms Platt toured the site and spoke with residents about their experiences and any issues they have experienced in the local area.

Conversations ranged from plans to regenerate shops on the high street to building a new train station in Golborne. The visit marked another step in the ongoing partnership between the scheme and the wider community.

Ms Platt, said: “It was a real pleasure to speak with residents and employees at Legh Court. It’s the best part of my job to be out in the constituency meeting with residents and getting their insights.

“There’s so much happening locally, and it was lovely to be able to meet so many people who are passionate about improving our community. I’m looking forward to my next visit.”

Residents discussed parking around the scheme and how this can be improved for the use of mobility scooters and how they can report any anti-social behaviour in the area.

Zoe Stephenson, Local Housing Manager at the scheme owned and operated by Housing 21, added: “We were pleased to welcome local MP, Jo Platt and provide an opportunity for residents to share their thoughts. It is encouraging to see their voices being heard and excited to grow the partnership between our scheme and the council.”
