A very special double birthday is taking place on 4 July as beloved siblings Bob and Joyce celebrate turning 93 and 99. The siblings who live at Housing 21's Extra Care scheme share not only a birthday but a remarkable combined age of 192.
Born on July 4 – six years apart – Bob and Joyce are well-known and cherished members of their Extra Care scheme. Their milestone birthdays are being celebrated in style by employees, fellow residents, and family.
Joyce, who turns 93, expressed her joy at celebrating the occasion with fellow residents at the scheme: “I am really thrilled to celebrate my birthday at my Extra Care scheme, it is amazing. I am very happy living here – I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!"
Bob, who reaches the impressive age of 99, shared his gratitude for the care and companionship he has found at his current home over the last decade: “I’ve been here 10 years now and it’s just getting better and better. If it was possible, I’d adopt all the Care Workers – I just love them all!
“They looked after my late wife so well, dancing and singing with her – it really kept her going in her later life."
Extra Care at Housing 21 offers residents independent living with on-site care. Facilities typically include a café/ bistro, lounge, hair salon, and gardens. Couples can live together even if only one requires care, pets are also welcome.
