To celebrate becoming a member of Women in Retirement Living, we're shining a light on some of the incredible women working at Housing 21. This week we would like to introduce you to Vera, Local Housing Manager in Retirement Living:
Vera started her journey in Retirement Living with Housing 21 in 2017 as a Housing Manager, two years later, she moved to Extra Care as a Housing Manager.
In 2025, Vera returned to Retirement Living as a Local Housing Manager.
When asked about what she enjoys most about working in Retirement Living, Vera said: “The opportunity to support residents in connecting with community groups and helping to prevent social isolation.”
Resident engagement is a key passion of Vera’s and helping people stay independent in their homes.
“I find it especially rewarding to make people smile and feel less alone. Throughout my time in Retirement Living, I have been proud to contribute to a wide range of projects across the organisation.”
A particular highlight for Vera was achieving distinctions in both the Level 5 Management and Level 7 Leadership qualifications which are offered within Housing 21's learning and development opportunities.
Vera takes pride in the small, meaningful differences that she makes each day in the lives of others.
