Charles Court is situated in the village of Armthorpe, just outside the town of Doncaster in South Yorkshire. The court is conveniently located with a range of shops and amenities within walking distance.
Charles Court has attractive and child-friendly gardens with raised beds, a garden shed, summer house and patio area where residents can sit and enjoy the warmer weather. Residents are welcome to get involved with tending the raised beds if they choose.
Close to the court are churches, banks, doctors surgeries, a fish and chip shop, convenience store, newsagent, post office, chemist, bakery and hairdresser. Larger supermarkets are a short drive away.
Armthorpe has its own leisure centre with swimming pool and gym, a community centre which holds regular events and several pubs serving food.
Nearby Doncaster has a wider range of shops and leisure facilities, including the Dome, the new Cast Theatre, a multi-screen cinema, ten-pin bowling alley and the Lakeside Shopping Village. Buses run every 10 minutes from a stop close to the court and will take you into Doncaster, which also has a train station providing connections to the mainline rail network. Many residents also use the local dial-a-ride scheme or reliable taxi companies to get around.
In 2025-26, Housing 21 commissioned Acuity to carry out a Care Satisfaction Survey with residents who receive a care component in an Extra Care scheme.
The purpose of the survey is to provide quality data to help improve the service provision. We undertook a census approach of Extra Care residents who could complete the survey online by scanning a QR code. Alternatively, they had the option to complete the paper version and return the survey themselves or get help from someone else.

Charles Court has been recently refurbished and has a range of onsite facilities including a residents’ lounge, guest room, laundry, gym, restaurant, hairdresser, lift and Car park. The court works with Doncaster Council and the Department of Health to make it a Dementia Friendly environment.
Charles Court is a friendly and welcoming scheme with a Tenants and Residents Association, which helps to organise a wide range of social activities including armchair exercises, art and craft classes, coffee mornings, film clubs and bingo sessions for residents and the community.
Charles Court boasts a wide range of nearby attractions include the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster Rovers Football Club, Doncaster Knights Rugby Union, the greyhound track at Stainforth and four local golf courses.
