John Barnes Court is a peaceful and friendly scheme in the village of Porlock, near to the sea on the edge of the Exmoor National Park. The court is close to a good range of local amenities and residents enjoy a high level of independence.
The area is a popular holiday destination with plenty for visitors to do. Minehead is the nearest town, just six miles away, while Taunton is 25 miles away. Minehead hosts a summer festival and Apple Days each year while the Porlock Arts Festival takes place every September. The museum hosts regular talks and plays, and there is an active amateur dramatic society in the village.

John Barnes Court has a range of on-site facilities including a communal lounge and laundry room. There are 8 studio apartments, 16 one-bed properties and 1 two-bed property. Some of the flats enjoy sea views
The court is surrounded by attractive and well-maintained gardens with a variety of mature shrubs and trees. There are pleasant seating areas where residents can relax and enjoy the warmer weather or occasional barbeques. Green-fingered residents are welcome to get involved with the gardening if they choose. The gardens attract a wide variety of wildlife including rabbits, squirrels, birds and pheasants.
