Lonsdale Court is a safe and peaceful Extra Care court, located in the quiet Pategill residential area of Penrith.
The historic market town of Penrith is the regional centre for the eastern Lake District and lies in the Eden Valley just outside the renowned National Park.
The attractive gardens at Lonsdale Court have recently been refurbished to make them more accessible to wheelchairs, and you are welcome to take care of your own area of the garden if you wish.
The area enjoys a good selection of recreational facilities within walking distance, including a leisure centre with a gym, indoor bowls and a swimming pool.
Buses run every hour into the centre of Penrith from a bus stop just five minutes’ walk from the court and there are several reliable taxi companies which will take you into town. Penrith has a bus station and train station which allows you to access other towns across the Lake District and beyond.
In 2025-26, Housing 21 commissioned Acuity to carry out a Care Satisfaction Survey with residents who receive a care component in an Extra Care scheme.
The purpose of the survey is to provide quality data to help improve the service provision. We undertook a census approach of Extra Care residents who could complete the survey online by scanning a QR code. Alternatively, they had the option to complete the paper version and return the survey themselves or get help from someone else.

Lonsdale Court offers a range of activities for residents to take part in, including dominoes each evening, weekly ‘knit and natter’ sessions and events and entertainments across the year.
Lonsdale Court is a 20 minute walk from the centre of town, which offers a good mix of high street stores and independent shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, a post office, a doctor's surgery, a small hospital, several churches and the ruins of Penrith Castle.
