Meakin Court is a happy, lively scheme enjoying a semi-rural location in a quiet area of Immingham in Humberside.

The court is a mile from the centre of town and close to farmland, while the seaside town of Cleethorpes is just half an hour away. Immingham has a good range of local amenities including several supermarkets, independent shops, doctors' surgeries, dentists, churches, banks, cafés, a library and a post office.

There is plenty to do in the area, with the local pub providing regular entertainments, quiz nights and charity events. There are many scenic walks nearby as well as a range of sports facilities including a golf club, sports club, swimming pool and fishing lakes. There is an over-60s social club close to the court and the civic centre offers bingo sessions, dances, exercise classes and tai chi.

The nearest bus stop is about a mile from the court and will take you into Grimsby and Cleethorpes or the many small villages nearby, including Habrough, Killingholme, Kirmington, Keelby and East Halton. There is a popular free ring-and-ride service which residents use to travel to the town and local shops. The nearest train station is a 10-minute drive away at Habrough and Humberside airport is seven miles away.

Meakin Court has a range of on-site facilities including a communal lounge with kitchen, en suite guest room, laundry, library, lift and large Car park.

Child-friendly gardens surround the court and there is a pleasant patio outside the lounge with a gazebo and places for residents to sit and enjoy the warmer weather. The gardens are used as a social space in summer, with bowling and sports days on the lawn and coffee mornings and church services under the gazebo. Family members are welcome to attend the events. Residents take pride in tending the gardens and fund raise to buy plants and equipment.

The court attracts a wide range of wildlife including sparrow hawks, kestrels, stoats, foxes, squirrels and occasional herons. Planting at the court is designed to attract bees and butterflies.
