A new initiative to showcase how Housing 21 employees Make A Difference Everyday has been launched to coincide with the organisation's 62nd anniversary.
Make A Difference Everyday, also known as MADE, focuses on how the small but deliberate actions of employees has a positive impact on individuals, the organisation and wider communities.
The launch follows a series of internal celebrations held across the country throughout June and July, to recognise the contributions made by Housing 21 employees on a daily basis and the positive impact they have on others.
Bruce Moore, Chief Executive of Housing 21, said: "The celebrations highlighted that so much great work goes on that people consider to be ‘just the day job’ but often, it is the small actions and gestures that have the biggest impact, and they certainly deserve to be recognised and appreciated. With so many great examples of amazing achievements coming out at the events we want to ensure that these are recognised and given prominence through our new Make A Difference Everyday initiative."
The Make A Difference Everyday (#MADEByUs) concept will shine a spotlight on employees who are going above and beyond to have a positive impact across three key themes:
The launch will take place on 12 August, marking 62 years since Housing 21 (then part of the Royal British Legion Housing Association) was officially launched as a housing association.
Bruce said: “Our purpose is to help older people to live well with dignity and autonomy by providing support or care in quality social rent or shared ownership properties and our goal is to achieve 95 per cent resident satisfaction levels. Whilst we always need to ensure we are compliant with legal requirements in terms of the standard of our properties or anything else, at Housing 21 we are proud to go beyond the legal minimum and offer so much more.
"Whether it's using a volunteer day to support a charity, creating a workplace environment where everyone feels welcome or spending time with a resident who would otherwise be alone, through these actions and gestures we become more than just a landlord. This campaign is not about focusing on the big industry-award winning success stories, but the small things that Make A Difference Everyday and make us proud to be part of Housing 21."
Ian Hodson, Housing 21's Director of People and Culture, talks more about the MADE concept.
