Accessing funds
To help support you with your finances, we have our Helping Hands Fund.
This funding is to help you sustain your tenancy. This includes:

One-off support of up to £300
- Supermarket vouchers - £190 for a single person and £300 for a couple

Some of the things the fund can be used for include:
- utility debts
- white goods
- essential furniture (in some cases)
- food vouchers
- car repairs
- vet bills
- new glasses
- funeral expenses
- travel costs to get to essential appointments, such as medical appointments
The Helping Hands Fund is not intended to be used for rent payments, service charge payments or to pay other personal debts, such as credit card or loan payments.
If you need support with any of these things, please speak to your Scheme Manager so they can help you see what other support is available.
To apply for a grant from the Helping Hands Fund, please speak to your local manager who will guide you through a simple application form.
Every application for a grant from the Helping Hands Fund will be assessed on its individual merit. We may ask for additional information, such as copies of bills and bank statements to support your application.
If your application is successful, Housing 21 will purchase any agreed goods, services or vouchers directly.
Maggie's story
Maggie, with the assistance of Helping Hands, bought an air fryer to help her to cook more economically.
Lois's story
Lois, with the assistance of Helping Hands, bought lots of essentials which she desperately needed when she first moved in.
Following the sad passing of a fellow resident, Pat had kindly agreed to look after their pet chihuahua, Tia. But she soon faced unexpected veterinary bills and other related costs. She applied for a Helping Hands grant, and thanks to our policy on offering an enhanced award where owning or caring for an animal is causing financial hardship, we were pleased to provide a £500 Tesco voucher.
