Robert is the life and soul of his Extra Care scheme; he loves to keep busy, making the perfect cup of coffee for everyone and setting up the activities for the day.

Originally a volunteer for the local day centre from 2018, Richard would co-ordinate activities for the residents. He loved the atmosphere and the company of the Extra Care residents so much so ,so, that six years later, he decided to move into the scheme himself.

"Everyone will come looking for me if they don’t see me in the lounge."
"I moved into the Extra Care scheme because it had a great atmosphere."
"I love the community spirit, everyone is really friendly, and we all get on well."

Robert has lived in Bradford his whole life, spending 25 years working on building sites and working in a local weaving mill and wood factory as a machine operator.

His fellow residents refer to him as the “helpful and friendly” resident, because he will happily pop out to do the weekly shop for them and regularly checks in on everyone to see how they are feeling.

Richard said: “I love to get involved and getting to know people. It is a real community atmosphere in Extra Care.

“We love to have a laugh, I’ll crack some jokes, play dominoes for hours on end and make sure everyone is having a good time.”
