In 2024, the Social Housing (Regulation) Act came into effect giving residents in social housing more protection to ensure you are living in safe, quality homes with reputable landlords.

The Social Housing (Regulation) Act, introduced in July 2023, ensures residents live in safe, quality homes with reputable landlords. It sets minimal standards and introduces stricter consequences for non-compliance, including unlimited fines.
From April 2024, the Regulator of Social Housing decided to take strict action against landlords who fail to meet the standards which are focused around four consumer standards.
