Joseph Jennings Court enjoys a semi-rural location in the small village of Waterloo, near Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside.

The court is within easy reach of the towns of Ashton and Oldham, yet is only a short walk from Daisy Nook Country Park which offers many pleasant walks through woodland and along the canal. The Park Bridge heritage site is also a short distance from the court.

There is plenty for residents to do in the local area. Ashton Moss has a cinema, bowling alley and restaurants, and there is a swimming pool at Ashton. Nearby leisure facilities include a library, art gallery and museums, including Portland Basin where restored barges can be hired for the day. Sports clubs in the area include a cricket club, athletics and cycling club, crown green bowling and Curzon Ashton football club.

Buses run regularly into Ashton from a stop just a short distance from the court, or residents can choose to use the local ring-and-ride service. Ashton town centre has a train station and a tram stop linking it to Manchester and the surrounding area.

Joseph Jennings Court has a range of onsite facilities, including a welcoming communal lounge, laundry, guest room, hair salon and lift.

The large and attractive grounds have a range of mature trees and shrubs, hanging baskets and flowerbeds. There are pleasant patio areas where residents can relax and enjoy the warmer weather. Green-fingered residents are encouraged to take part in tending the gardens if they choose. Because of the court’s semi-rural location, the gardens attract a variety of wildlife including bats and squirrels.
