Ross Willis Court enjoys an attractive location surrounded by open countryside in Newent, a small market town on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean.
There is a varied programme of events including a WI market, annual Onion Fayre and Newent in Bloom competition. Nearby Cheltenham hosts a wealth of cultural events and exhibitions and Gloucester Docks holds Tall Ships events and dramatic firework displays in November.
The area has a good selection of leisure facilities including a sports centre with badminton and tennis courts, a swimming pool and gym, an arboretum and popular allotments. There is also a rugby ground and recreation ground which hosts well-attended football matches. The area boasts an acclaimed Birds of Prey Centre, woodland walks, several vineyards and canals.
The court has a well-tended, secluded garden to the rear and attractive shrubs in front. Residents are welcome to join in with the gardening, and there are benches where residents can sit and enjoy the surroundings. The court’s countryside setting means the gardens attract a variety of wildlife including birds, hedgehogs and foxes.
Buses stop outside the court and provide regular services into Newent, Gloucester, Ross-on-Wye or Ledbury. From Gloucester you can easily access a bus or train to Cheltenham, the Forest of Dean, Stroud, Cirencester and various other destinations. Newent has several dial-a-ride community buses and there is a reliable taxi service.
