There is excitement across Housing 21 as the shortlists for not one, but two national awards were announced. The great news coincides with the launch of a brand-new video showcasing employee benefits.

The leading national provider of Extra Care and Retirement Living for older people of modest means has been shortlisted in the Employee Benefits Awards 2023 in the category for Best Benefits to Support Work-Life Balance and Hybrid Working; and the Global Good Awards 2023 in the Employee Engagement and Wellbeing category.

As part of the award submissions, Housing 21 demonstrated a commitment to employee wellbeing through schemes, such as flexible working and the nine-day fortnight.

Amina Graham, Executive Director of People and Systems, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted in the Employee Benefits Awards and the Global Good Awards. We understand that flexible working can help improve work-life balance, support wellbeing by reducing stress and contribute to increased job satisfaction.

“In September, we introduced a nine-day fortnight as our default offer for all full-time employees, where they can choose to spread their working hours over nine days instead of ten, giving them the option to enjoy a three-day weekend.

“We value our employees and have developed a benefits package that we are proud of. The next step is to spread the details of this package far and wide and we’ve created a new video to showcase what we offer and help position us as an employer of choice.”

Housing 21 also has initiatives in place to support employees’ health and wellbeing, including an Employee Assistance Programme that offers free and confidential support for work-related and personal issues; and Mental Health First Aiders, fully trained Housing 21 employees who can be approached privately and confidentially about something that is work-related or personal.

Employees are also offered two paid volunteer days a year, which can be used to support their chosen charity, local community groups or a Housing 21 scheme.

The benefits video is available to watch on YouTube and more details about the benefits we offer are available on the website: Housing 21 - Employee benefits at Housing 21.

The Employee Benefits Awards 2023 ceremony, which recognise individuals, teams and organisations making a difference through their reward and benefits strategies, will take place at the HAC in London on Friday 23 June. Shortlists for all the categories can be found on the website: The Employee Benefits Awards 2023

The Global Good Awards 2023, which recognise leaders who are achieving practical, real-world impact that is both scalable and replicable, will take at a virtual ceremony on Wednesday 12 July. Shortlists for all the categories can be found on the website: The Global Good Awards 2023.
