Residents and employees have come together to celebrate contractors who have gone the extra mile as part of Housing 21’s Outstanding Contractor 2025 initiative, which received 333 nominations.

The initiative encourages nominations for accredited contractors who have gone above and beyond in delivering exceptional maintenance, day-to-day running, and support services that contribute to the wellbeing and safety of its residents. This initiative plays a vital role in gathering resident feedback and and reaffirming Housing 21’s dedication to delivering safe, quality and affordable housing.

One of the nominations from a resident at Jellicoe Court on behalf of their local contractor, said: “They’re very good, they’re very polite and they’re very helpful. I can’t say anything wrong about them at all. If you want any lifting, or carrying doing or just general help around the court here – they never let you struggle with anything.”

Nominated contractors receive a certificate for each nomination recognising their outstanding contributions. These certificates serve as a token of appreciation for their commitment to ensuring that the schemes continue to run smoothly and that residents are provided with high-quality homes.

Gill Brown, Head of Procurement at Housing 21, said: “We are proud that our Outstanding Contractor initiative continues to be well received each year by contractors, residents and employees, with this year’s initiative receiving 333 nominations. The initiative celebrates our local, accredited contractors who are awarded annual contracts and supported by residents, who play a key role in local decision making.

“Their contributions are essential to the overall wellbeing of our residents, and this is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for their ongoing support and commitment.”

The number of nominees equates to a third of Housing 21’s accredited contractors across its 650 Retirement Living and Extra Care schemes. This initiative is designed not only to highlight the crucial role contractors play in maintaining the schemes but also to encourage a sense of community. It has received an enthusiastic response from contractors, and resident and employees at each scheme, helping to strengthen the relationship between them.
