A brand new scheme located off Rudham Stile Lane now has a Housing and Care Manager in place, in addition to a New Homes Consultant, who will help local people move into their new homes in spring 2021.

Meadow Walk is being developed by Housing 21, in partnership with Norfolk County Council and North Norfolk District Council. The new one and two bedroom apartments will be available for people over the age of 55, who are looking to rent or purchase through shared ownership. The Extra Care scheme has been designed for those looking to maintain their independence with the assurance of quality on-site care and support if needed. The developers describe it as a real alternative to residential care, particularly for couples whose care needs vary but are keen to stay living together.

Jayne Read, the new Housing and Care Manager has worked for Housing 21 for four years, managing another of the organisation’s large schemes in Swaffham. Most recently she has worked as a Court Manager at Valentine Barker Court, a Retirement Living scheme managed by Housing 21.

Jayne said: “I’m looking forward to speaking more with the local community of Fakenham. I am very passionate about caring for and supporting others and therefore helping people to remain as independent as possible, regardless of age or health conditions.

“I have gained a lot of knowledge and compassion in dementia care and I’m also a Dementia Champion. I’m particularly excited about welcoming all new residents and helping them all to have a happy, comfortable and fulfilled life within the new scheme.

“I have been keeping a keen eye on the progress of the build, despite only recently being appointed into this role, and I’m pleased that we have only experienced a delay of six weeks as a result of the pandemic – meaning we’re still on track for opening in spring 2021.

“Over the next few months I will be hard at work spreading the word about Meadow Walk and building a team of colleagues to ensure our future residents are well supported and settled into their homes. I’m determined to find the best Care Workers in Norfolk!”

Meadow Walk will also offer a 24-hour on-site care team for emergency response and those who need more planned care, a communal lounge and landscaped gardens. An on-site café/bistro and hair salon can also be enjoyed by residents and the local community.

The show home at Meadow Walk is due to open in January 2021. Those interesting in finding out more about the new Extra Care scheme are invited to sign up to the webinar on the Housing 21 website.
