A development of much-needed homes for older people in Skipton has opened its doors to prospective residents. Eller Beck Court, in Raikes Road, is an Extra Care scheme providing independent living for people aged over 55 with optional on-site care.

76 years ago our gentleman, Jack, was only 23 years old when he went off to the D-Day landings with the RAF. Last year, he celebrated his 100th birthday at William Griffiths Court in Blackburn.

To mark his 100th birthday, Joe received a small presentation from PC Jodie Roberts and colleagues from Smethwick, along with a visit from his family and plenty of cake! Joe has lived at Queenridge Court since 2020 and has said that he "loves living there".

Work has started on a £16 million affordable housing scheme in Doncaster. The development of 126 homes will be delivered by Esh Construction in partnership with Together Housing Group, which also owns and manages Lakeside Rise in the town, and Housing 21.

Housing 21 first began as the Royal British Legion Housing Association, which in 1921 began to house disabled ex-servicemen and widows. As RBL marks its 100th anniversary today, we’re sharing one of our resident’s memories from his time in the Navy.
